Functional Lightsaber Toy

This concept started with my ambition to create a lightsaber with a self-deploying and self-retracting LED-lit blade that can withstand mild impacts. Previous work by others includes lightsaber blades that do not automatically deploy or retract, ones that are much larger than one-to-one scale, or even a model made by Disney that looks realistic but has an extremely fragile blade.

As I have yet to bring this project into the prototype phase, my main learnings thus far include quicker and more detailed CAD modeling skills and improved expertise with electronic component selection.
